Description
Don Miguel Ruiz was inspired to write The Four Agreements by a combination of personal experiences and his ancestral heritage. He was born into a family of healers in Mexico and was deeply influenced by the spiritual teachings of the Toltec civilization, which emphasized the pursuit of personal freedom, happiness, and love through self-awareness and transformation.
A pivotal moment in Ruiz’s life occurred after a near-fatal car accident. This experience prompted him to reevaluate his life and explore the spiritual wisdom of his ancestors more deeply. Leaving behind his career as a medical doctor, he studied Toltec traditions under his mother, a healer, and his grandfather, a shaman. These teachings became the foundation for The Four Agreements, which he wrote as a practical guide to help others break free from fear-based beliefs and achieve personal freedom.
